Capes Scholarships

The scholarships are granted by the collegiate, based on criteria elaborated by the Scholarship Commission. The following are the criteria for obtaining scholarships:

a) Exclusion criteria (precedes classification and is valid for scholarship maintenance):

  1. Students who have not delivered final papers of disciplines, within the specified deadlines;
  2. Students with two “C” grades in disciplines;
  3. Students who did not have the agreement of the advisor to obtain the scholarship, facing the consistent exposure of facts that do not indicate the concession;
  4. Students who already receive or are indicated to receive scholarships from other funding agencies.

b) Classification criteria (sort order):

  1. Students of the most advanced classes in the course;
  2. Within the class, those who have the highest final grade in the selection process;
  3. In case of a tie, the highest grade of the written examination in the selection process;
  4. If the tie persists, the highest grade of the resume analysis;
  5. Still persisting the tie: the oldest student – age group.

c) Criteria for granting scholarships to working students (CAPES/CNPq), respecting the provisions of the PORTARIA CONJUNTA Nº 1, DE 15 DE JULHO DE 2010, which establishes:

“Art. 1º CAPES and CNPq scholarship holders enrolled in postgraduate programs in the country may receive financial complementation from other sources, as long as they dedicate themselves to activities related to their area of expertise and of interest for their academic, scientific and technological education.

§1º the accumulation of scholarships from public agencies is forbidden.

§2º the scholarship holders may engage in paid activity, especially when teaching as teachers in any grade.

Art. 2º In order to receive financial complementation or act as a teacher, the scholar must obtain authorization, granted by his/her advisor, duly informed to the coordination of the course or postgraduate program in which he/she is enrolled and registered in the Cadastro Discente (Student Registry) of CAPES.”

The above-mentioned scholarships may be granted by PPGE/CPAN and maintained during the course if: the criteria established in items a and b are respected and the work activity of the master’s student does not exceed 20 hours per week.

In case of irregularities, the scholarship holder is obliged to return to CAPES or CNPq values received unduly.

These decisions were approved at a meeting of the Colegiado do Curso de Mestrado em Educação (Collegiate of the Master’s Course in Education) held on December 18, 2017.
