a) CREIA – Educação e Cidadania (Education and Citizenship) – Leading Professor: Dr. Mônica de Carvalho Magalhães Kassar
The Education and Citizenship Research Group was formed in 1993 by a group of teachers from the Psychology and Education departments of the Corumbá Campus, who have been discussing, studying, researching and advising different institutions on issues related to the rights of children and adolescents. Since 1994, the research group has been developing its projects at the Centro de Referência de Estudos da Infância e Adolescência – CREIA (Reference Center for Studies of Childhood and Adolescence), implemented through an agreement signed between the Universidade Federal de Mato Grosso do Sul – UFMS (Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul) and the now defunct Centro Brasileiro para a Infância e Adolescência – CBIA (Brazilian Center for Childhood and Adolescence). Between 1995 and 2003 it published the journal Re-Criação. In 2008, the group proposed the Post-Graduate Program in Education (Master’s level), with a concentration area in Social Education, at the Corumbá-UFMS Campus, which has been in operation since then. Currently, it is developing research and extension projects in collaboration with researchers from the State University of Pará, Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro, State University of Rio de Janeiro, Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro, Catholic University Dom Bosco, Federal Institute of Mato Grosso do Sul and University of Alcalá (Spain). b) Forprat – Grupo de Estudo e Pesquisa sobre Formação e Práticas Docentes (Study and Research Group on Education and Teaching Practices) – Leading Professor: Dr. Márcia Regina do Nascimento Sambugari
With a multidisciplinary approach, the group made up of researchers who work in Undergraduate and Pedagogy, has focused their studies on the formation (initial and continuing) and practices of educators of Basic Education and in different school contexts, non-school and frontier – a peculiar reality of the cities of Corumbá and Ladário (Brazil/Bolivia), as well as other locations in Brazil. Its repercussion has been occurring through scientific initiation guidelines, undergraduate thesis (TCC) in undergraduate courses and master’s degrees, participation of members in lectures, national and international events, and extension actions. c) GEPEFE – Grupo de Estudos e Pesquisas em Políticas Educacionais, Formação Docente e Educação (Group of Studies and Research in Educational Policies, Teaching Formation and Education) – Leading Professor: Dr. Fabiano Antonio dos Santos
The GEPEFE aims to investigate and reflect on the constitutive elements of education in the process of human formation. Therefore, our actions have been developed through the formation of a group of studies focused on emerging themes in the educational field, research of course conclusion works, master’s thesis and doctorate dissertations and other research with partnerships between UFMS researchers, other national and international higher education institutions. d) GEPDGE – Grupo de Estudo e Pesquisa em Desenvolvimento, Gênero e Educação (Study and Research Group on Development, Gender and Education) – Leading Professor: Dr. Josiane Peres Gonçalves
O Grupo de Estudos e Pesquisas em Desenvolvimento, Gênero e Educação – GEPDGE (Study and Research Group on Development, Gender and Education) aims to investigate issues related to gender, sexuality and diversity, as well as the process of human development in childhood, adolescence and adulthood, seeking to establish relationships with the area of education. Since 2012, GEPDGE has been conducting research in several municipalities in the State of Mato Grosso do Sul, whose results are organized in the form of scientific articles and published in specialized journals according to the Qualis criteria of Capes. GEPDGE has two lines of research: Human Development and Education; Gender, Education and Learning; and carries out various activities inherent to teaching, research and extension. e) GEPIEI – Grupo de Estudos e Pesquisas sobre Infância e Educação Infantil (Study and Research Group on Childhood and Early Education) – Leading Professors: Dr. Sílvia Adriana Rodrigues and Dr. Anamaria Santana da Silva
The Grupo de Estudo e Pesquisa em Infância e Educação Infantil – GEPIEI (Study and Research Group on Childhood and Early Education) was created in 2009 at the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul – Pantanal Campus, with the objective of promoting studies and debates on Childhood and Early Education. The group, composed of professors of the Pedagogy Course, students of the Pedagogy Course and of the Masters in Education; scientific initiation scholarship holders, scholarship holders of the Permanence Scholarship Program and teachers of the municipal and state education system interested in studying related themes, also proposes to be a research space. It presents as results the execution of extension and research projects that contribute to a better formation of academics, as well as to the deepening of knowledge about childhood and early childhood education in the region, Brazil and the world. f) GEPLEI/THC – Grupo de Estudos e Pesquisas em Linguagem, Educação e Infância/Teoria Histórico-Cultural (Study and Research Group in Language, Education and Childhood/Historical-Cultural Theory) – Leading Professor: Dr. Regina Aparecida Marques de Souza
It studies the issues of the appropriation of oral and written language in the education of childhood from the historical-cultural theory, from the studies carried out by Vigotski, Luria, Leontiev, Elkonin, among others, in the perspective of understanding such assumptions related to the pedagogical practice of children’s teachers; – Discuss the pedagogical implications of historical-cultural theory for the education of children from 0 to 10 years old, seeking to reflect and intervene on pedagogical practice in institutions of Early Childhood Education and Elementary School, at the level of methodologies and teacher training, mainly in the practices of reader and text producer education. g) GEPSEX – Grupo de Estudos e Pesquisas em Sexualidades, Educação e Gênero (Group of Studies and Research in Sexualities, Education and Gender) – Leading Professor: Dr. Constantina Xavier Filha
The Grupo de Estudos e Pesquisas em Sexualidades, Educação e Gênero – GEPSEX (Group of Studies and Research in Sexualities, Education and Gender) aims to promote discussions, studies, research and extension projects in the theoretical fields of gender and sexualities in education. The theoretical references are those of Gender Studies, Cultural Studies and Foucaultian assumptions. The following are highlighted as repercussions: research; initial and continuing education of educators; the production of educational materials, children’s books and animation films, and also the realization of extension projects aimed especially at the continuing education of educators of Basic Education in the municipality of Campo Grande/MS and other cities in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul. The group has as objectives: To develop research on gender, sexuality and differences in a foucaultian, feminist, queer and des-colonial perspective; To promote analyses that contribute to the formation of different professionals on themes that involve gender, sexuality and differences; To carry out teaching and extension activities in order to contribute to the enlargement of rights; To involve teachers, researchers, university students, militants and representatives of civil entities interested in the area of gender, sexuality and differences studies; To promote inter-multi-disciplinary work on themes that involve gender, sexuality and differences. The group’s objective is to develop initiatives in the region that include knowledge and learning in the areas of public policy, human rights, gender, vulnerability and violence. NEPI/PANTANAL is committed to studying, getting to know and deepening research techniques and discussing current day-to-day issues for the formation of professionals with a differentiated outlook. The Grupo de Estudos, Pesquisa e Extensão “NEXOS Teoria Crítica e Pesquisa Interdisciplinar” (Study, Research and Extension Group – NEXOS Critical Theory and Interdisciplinary Research) has been working since 2014 and aims to expand the studies, research and extension actions related to investigations on educational and educational phenomena in their different manifestations and multidimensionalities, in school, non-school and informal spaces emphasizing themes such as: Cultural Education researching the processes of production of culture and its massification, the insertion of new information technologies and the production of artistic activities in its different manifestations. k) Políticas Públicas de Educação e Educação Especial (Public Policies on Education and Special Education) – Leading Professor: Dr. Mônica de Carvalho Magalhães Kassar
The group has an inter-institutional character and involves researchers from different universities. Between 2010 and 2014, it developed research projects with researchers from UEL, UFSC, UNICAMP, UFSCar and UFMS, which were contemplated by the Universal Announcement of CNPq and the Observatory Announcement – CAPES. Currently, it is responsible for the development of the research project “Brazilian Educational Indicators from the Administrative Reform of the State System”, under the coordination of Professor Dr. Andressa Rebelo and “Study on the connection between the service to the person with disability in Brazil and European and North American production”, in collaboration with Dr. Gilberta Jannuzzi. l) Saúde mental e trabalho na fronteira (Mental health and work at the border) – Leading Professor: Dr. Vanessa Catherina Neumann Figueiredo
This group aims to study and disseminate research concerning the health of occupational groups working on the border between Brazil and Bolivia. The research includes both psychological and physical evaluation, with the application of psychological tests, health scales and socioeconomic analysis, as well as the analysis of the relationship between the individual and the processes and organization of work, and their impacts on the mental health of workers. With this, this group encompasses studies under different theoretical-methodological approaches in the field of Work-Related Mental Health, especially the epidemiological, the stress at work and the psychodynamics of work.
